DESIGN PRINCIPLES FOR EFFECTIVE FENCEBOARD ADS
FIVE RULES FOR FENCEBOARD CREATIVE THAT WORKS
1. KEEP IT SIMPLE
– MAXIMUM 7 WORDS Drivers pass your FenceBoard at 25-45 mph. They have 3-5 seconds to read your message.
✓ Maximum: 7 words total
✓ Focus: One clear message
✓ Test: Can you read it in 3 seconds?
GOOD: “Best Pizza in Detroit | 555-PIZZA” BAD:
“Visit Our Family- Owned Restaurant Serving Authentic Italian Pizza, Pasta, and Salads Since 1985”
2. USE BOLD, READABLE FONTS Thin, decorative, or script fonts disappear at distance.
✓ Use: Helvetica, Arial, Futura, Gotham, Impact
✓ Weight: Bold or Extra Bold minimum
✓ Avoid: Script fonts, thin weights, decorative styles
GOOD: HELVETICA BOLD (easy to read) BAD: Fancy Script Font (impossible to read at distance)
3. HIGH CONTRAST COLORS
Your ad must be readable in all conditions: bright sun, rain, dusk.
✓ High contrast: Black on yellow, white on dark blue, yellow on black
✓ Avoid: Light on light, dark on dark, low contrast combinations
✓ Test: Squint at your design – can you still read it?
GOOD: Black text on bright yellow background BAD: Light blue text on white background
4. ONE STRONG IMAGE (OPTIONAL)
If you include an image, make it large and relevant.
✓ Show: Your product, your result, your benefit
✓ Size: Image should be 40-60% of total ad space
✓ Avoid: Stock photos, complex scenes, multiple small images
GOOD: Large, appetizing burger photo (restaurant) BAD: Small photo of random people eating
5. CLEAR CALL-TO-ACTION
Tell viewers exactly what to do next.
✓ Include: Phone number OR website (not both)
✓ Make it: Large, bold, prominent
✓ Keep it: Simple and memorable
GOOD: “CALL 313-555-HVAC” or “Visit DetroitHVAC.com” BAD: “Call us today at (313) 555-4822 or visit our website at www.detroithvacrepairandinstallation.com for more information”

FenceBoards are located on church and nonprofit properties. All advertising must be appropriate for these locations.

HOW THE CREATIVE PROCESS WORKS
FROM CONCEPT TO INSTALLATION IN 3-4 WEEKS STEP
1: CONSULTATION (Day 1-2)
Contact your Account Executive to discuss your goals, target audience, and messaging. Select your FenceBoard locations based on traffic patterns and demographics.
STEP 2: CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT (Day 3-7)
Our design team creates 2-3 concepts following best practices for outdoor advertising. You review options and provide feedback.
STEP 3: REVISIONS & APPROVAL (Day 8-10) We refine your chosen design based on your input. You approve final artwork with written, or signature approval required before production.
STEP 4: PRODUCTION (Day 11-18) FenceBoards are professionally printed on durable, weather-resistant material. Printer provides proof for final approval before printing.
STEP 5: SHIPPING & INSTALLATION (Day 19-21) Completed FenceBoards ship to our operations team. We schedule installation and send you proof-of-performance photos once live.

How It Works
Call our direct line to reach an Account Supporter or go to our contact us page.
Signature approval of creative proofs and/or written approval is required prior to posting.
Our Account Supporter’s vast knowledge of the area in addition to impression counts will help you to choose the best assets for your business.
The creative team will send a print ready file to the printer. The printer will send back proof for the creative team and for you to approve. Upon approval, production begins!
The Creative team will provide design options based on your goals and best design practices for you to review. At this stage you may make any comments or changes.
The print company will ship the FenceBoard to Red Diamond Media Group.
We have full time, talented designers on staff who will work with you to capture your main strategies and goals and translate that into a brilliant design! You can send any art assets you have, i.e. logo, directly to your Account Supporter, they’ll be sure to hand it over to the creative department.
Once the FenceBoard is received, our Operations Crew will install your new FenceBoard, and your Account Executive will send you proof of performance photo!
*Upon contract approval and receipt of creative assets, artwork and production may take up to 2 weeks dependent upon extensions and embellishments.
